The week of Monday, February 19th was National FFA week. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are part of a history and heritage that won't change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be farmers. This is the reason the name was changed in 1988, after a vote of national convention, in order to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture. Today, the National FFA Organization remains a part of individual student’s educations, providing a way to achieve leadership, personal growth and career success through the medium of agricultural education.
Tuesday was “Dress Like the Cows Got Out.” Many people were dressed in mismatched and different clothes.
Wednesday was “USA Day.” Everyone was dressed very Patriotic.
Thursday “Teachers Dress as Students and Students Dress As Teachers Day”. Many students and teachers enjoyed swapping outfits for the day. We even had teachers outfitted in comfy “hoodies” for the accurate student look.
Friday was “Blue and Gold Day.” Numerous students and teachers were dressed in blue and gold. These are the FFA colors.
FFA is important for us because many of our students come from agricultural backgrounds. It was a fun week of celebrating that heritage!
