I recently had the opportunity to interview our school's new IT Director. His name is Evan Adams. I asked him what he liked about technology. He said that he liked the endless things you can do with it. I asked about his education, and he said that he had received his high school diploma in Atlanta, Georgia. When I asked him what he liked about the school environment, he said, “I like how welcoming it is.” Before Mr. Adams started working here, he worked in the Marine Corps for four years.
When we asked him what you could do with technology, he responded, “With technology you can do anything you think of. The internet and hardware of new computers is to the point where the only limitation is your own knowledge. Anyone can learn how to control other computers, robots, TVs, etc.”
I asked him about the value of living in other countries. He says, “Living in other countries gives you different aspects of living that you may not be able to find in the US. For example, health is very important in Japan. No matter how sick people are, they are aware of their sickness and wear a mask preemptively to protect other people from getting sick. While in America, people will still walk around while sick without a mask. It is more common to see people with a mask on in Japan than people without.”
Mr. Adams is continuing his education. He says, “Once I get more comfortable with my new job I will be working on Comptia certifications. My first step will be to work on and complete Network+ then I will work towards Security+, Server+, then end with Cybersecurity Analyst+.”
