HearingScreening

Why is that student wearing headphones?  She’s not listening to music.  In fact, she’s being tested.  Annual hearing screenings were recently conducted in White City.  A hearing screener is conducted to determine if a student has any hearing problems.  These hearing problems can cause temporary or permanent hearing loss.  The two kind ladies that did the hearing screenings were Brenda and Pam. They work for USD 505 in Salina.  They enjoy their job because they have summers off.  They also get to meet lots of new students. The ladies go in and out of about 60 schools each year.  Additional screenings will be done on September 28th.  Our head nurse, who facilitated the screenings, is Nurse Kathy Hubka.  Nurse Kathy wants people to be aware of the service offered to students.  She says it’s important to catch any problems early, so they don’t interfere with school work.  Students who require more evaluations can be referred to Salina for a free checkup.  More information about hearing evaluations can be obtained from Nurse Kathy.
