IceCreamSocial

On a recent day at White City School, a senior was going down the slide with a 1st grader.  Somewhere near, a junior is playing on the monkey bars with a kindergarten student.  On September 1st, White City Schools had an Ice Cream Social. Before the event started, Mrs. Lorri Kasten gave instructions about how the ice cream social would work. The whole school had gathered in the gym.  To get things started, Mrs. Kasten paired off students for the social. All high schoolers were paired with an elementary or junior high kid. Some high schoolers were paired with more than one elementary student.  The groups went outside and picked out their ice cream or popsicles. They spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out on the playground, and enjoying their ice cream.  It was a time of getting to know your buddy or buddies.  This was the first “Ice Cream Social” of its kind here at White City.  8th grader Lilli was paired with Kindergartner Kinley.  “It was fun to get to know her,” Lilli said.  All agreed: the Ice Cream Social was a great opportunity to enjoy a cold treat in the remainder of the hot weather.
