Hammersmith

Ms. Hammersmith is the Junior High math teacher at White City Schools. Starting in 1990, she has been teaching for a total of 34 years. She told us that the current year has been going really well. Ms. Hammersmith is also the high school Scholars Bowl and Junior High Quiz Bowl sponsor. Ms. Hammersmith was the Title 1 teacher at Hope for eight years.  She says, “Getting back in the classroom after 8 years is probably my greatest struggle, but I love teaching.” She loves to go to the events of her grandkids, who are all very active in sports and after school activities. Ms. Hammersmith has decided this will be her last year teaching, but she will be coming back to sub if needed. Ms. Hammersmith loves to dance in her free time. She also enjoys hanging out with her grandkids - and dancing with them too! She says, “I want more time to spend with my grandkids because they won’t be young forever.” Recently, when she was playing volleyball with her son and grandkids, she went to stop the ball and broke her finger. She is recovering well, and can’t wait to do more activities. Ms. Hammersmith loves spreading the joy of learning and is very passionate about math. We will miss her and hope she has a great time dancing.  While we still have her, we want to make the best out of this year together.
