Mrs. Diana Newey and Mrs. Lorrie Mayfield both applied to Heartland STEM Inc. for additional resources to be used in their classrooms for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) projects. Both teachers were awarded $200 each.
Mrs. Newey wrote in her application, "We are just starting our STEM program and we have limited resources to work with. This grant will help me and the school buy needed materials and activities for technology, engineering, science, and mathematics." Mrs. Mayfield said, "This is the first year for many of these programs to be taught in a rural area of Kansas. I would love to have more materials to work with to offer more hands-on applications."
Both teachers are excited to be offering STEM activities in their classrooms, and they cannot wait to use the funds to purchase materials to support learning for students!
