Mrs. Diana Newey joined our school on January 3, 2023. Her teaching career is just beginning, but she brings to us a lifetime of experience. She teaches 6th and 7th ELA, Science, and 6th-8th STEM. She tells us that she enjoys seeing the students every day. She informs us that the hardest part of her job is classroom management and keeping all the students engaged. This is actually a common thing for teachers to report. She believes teaching is something she was supposed to do. She says, “I believe teaching was my true calling as a career.” She thinks that if she were not a teacher, she would be a natural resource officer. Her primary interest outside of school is Family, or doing outdoor activities. She spends her free time doing sports and 4-H with her kids. She says, speaking of her busy family, “We’re always on the go”. She makes her material relevant to students by finding out their interests and having them make certain decisions in class. When asked how White City is different from other places, she answers that it's a small rural town where family and community are still actually loved.
