On October 27 2023, the elementary and high school kids came together for an afternoon of fun! The very first thing that happened: we were assigned to a classroom. The teachers paired up a group of high school students with a designated grade - ranging from first through seventh grade students. The teachers proceeded to pair us up with a little kid. As we made our way to the big gym, we could smell the delicious aroma of fresh popped popcorn. As we came in, we proceeded to sit down in the bleachers and listen to the assembly. Kids from all different grades received awards for different things: including good attendance, red ribbon week, being a “paw-sative” student. A “paw-sative” student is any student who has done a good deed and is recognized. At the end, the teachers went through the bleachers in order to recognize their star student. They gave this award to the student who is most respectful, listens well, and gets along with others. Once we were done with awards, we found some popcorn, and sat down to watch a movie. We watched a Charlie Brown Halloween movie with the kids, and had a chance to connect with them. The kids really enjoyed it, and had a ton of fun with their high school student buddies.
