VDay

White City recently held its annual Veteran’s Day program.  Veteran’s Day is celebrated annually on November 11th.  The assembly started at 1:00 pm, Nov 10, 2023.  It began with ‘Welcome’ and ‘Opening Remarks.’  For the opening remarks, it was requested that all military -  active and inactive - stand up.  It was also requested for relatives of military veterans to stand up.  The assembly opened with the National Anthem, which was beautifully sung by Atley Johnson. As the National Anthem finished, the Kindergarten and 1st graders came down to sing “Yankee Doodle”.  Next, the third graders came down to sing the patriotic song, “This Land is Your Land.”  The next song was sung by Sierra Seadeek, and the piano was played by Amelia Friedli.  Their song was entitled “Soldier’s Light”. It was a stirring performance by both Amelia Friedli and Sierra Seadeek. After that performance, there were readings by Maci Calvert and Kamryn Anderson. As it grew closer to the end of the assembly, we had Quentin Summers singing the song “Amazing Grace”. The performance was breathtaking, and was sung beautifully by Quentin Summers. After the performance, all the Junior High and some High School students came to sing the song “Home”. There were three high school students singing the song together with the junior high students. It sounded dulcet and melodious. There was then a reading by Kaycee Brown and Atley Johnson, simultaneous with a ceremonial flag folding done by the American Legion. As the folding was underway, both Karson Snyder and Jhet Johnson read about the representation of the flag and what each fold represents. For the final performance, Kindergarten-12th Grade sang “God Bless the USA”. The song was appropriately sung - with great patriotism.
