mockcrash

On April 3, 2024 grade 8-12 students of White City went over to Hope to watch a mock car crash. The whole process was educational and was demonstrated well.  It visualized something that many of us only imagine.  Our drivers and future drivers need to be alert.

There were several first responders that helped with this experience. They demonstrated what the 911 call sounded like, the pages, and the ways first responders communicate when there has been an accident. Tyler Brockmeier was the crash dummy, used to show what medical attention one may need and how that process could work. There were 2 victims in this mock crash. One was launched out of the vehicle, and one was trapped inside. They used 2 different perspectives to show us what type of care would be necessary.

At the end, inside the gym, the police officer went over various questions and “what - if” situations. The first responders were helpful, answering questions. For the students, the experience was surreal and the situation made it seem real. The point of this mock crash was to stress the importance of distracted driving, in which someone might be injured - or even worse.
