Once again, it is time to honor excellence among the student population of White City High School.  National Honor Society has inducted five new members from our school.  These five are: Ian Effland, Trent Hoff, Journey Peterson, Kole Riedy, and Koden Sanford.  All five are currently Sophomores.  The ceremony was held on April 19th, 2024, in the White City School library.  Present at the ceremony were current NHS members Parker Diekmann, Shaylee Sanford, Amelia Friedli, Bailey Rapp, Emily VanValkenburg, and Kambyl Riedy.

Since 1921, the National Honors Society has sought to recognize and encourage student excellence.  Chapters of the NHS can be found in all 50 states.  In total, nearly 1.5 million students have some engagement with the organization.  In order to become a member of NHS, a student must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.  Applications are available to students when they become Sophomores.  Applicants are considered on the “Four Pillars.”  According to the official NHS website, these pillars are Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.

“NHS to me is an honor knowing that you have to work hard to get into it,” Journey Peterson told us. “Being inducted into the National Honor Society is a great honor for me. It symbolizes recognition for my hard work, dedication to academics, leadership, service, and character. It also serves as a reminder of the responsibility I have to continue striving for excellence and making positive contributions to my community,” says Ian Effland.

Congratulations to these excellent students!
