White City School had its annual Day on the Farm last Friday April 26th.  Our students were encouraged to bring their animals and show them off.  Elsa Barrett brought a dog and two cows.  Elsa was eager to share details about her animals.

The cow’s names are Poppy and Marigold. The cows are pregnant, and will have their calves soon. They have four stomachs, so when they eat their food, they will swallow it 3 times, before they finally digest it. The cows are Holstein cows.  One is red.  The other is black.

The name of Elsa’s dog is Rusty. Rusty the dog is an Australian Shepard, so he works cows all year around. He is good at working cows, and loves doing his job.  Elsa loves when Rusty listens and does his job right he works no matter what the weather is.  She cuts his hair in the summertime so that he stays cool. The people that had him docked his tail, so when he's working around bob wire or sharp objects, his tail won't get caught, and he won't get hurt from his tail getting caught.

Other students were excited to show off their animals.  Fayth Ehrlich brought two sheep.  Ian Effland brought a horse. Bryson Allen brought 4 ducks and 2 goats. Ameila Friedli brought 2 chickens. Kyle Lybarger brought 3 rabbits.  These students told younger kids all about their animals.

Jerrel Bingesser brought a tractor.  Colter Johnson brought a swather.  Landon Parker brought his sprayer. Jhet Johnson brought a bailer.  “It’s an important and valuable piece of farm equipment.  We rely on it every day,” Jhet tells us.
