We recently interviewed our newest foreign exchange student, Alexis Roepert. Alexis is from Berlin, Germany.  This is the capital of Germany, a city of about 3.6 million people.  When we asked him if he liked America more than his home country, he said “no”.  When Alexis returns to his home country he plans on joining a football team and finishing school. When we asked him how America's school system differs from Germany’s, he said, “It’s way more harder than the American school system, more work, stricter and colder teachers and no fun activities.”

He told us that he misses the food, his friends, family and the city back in Germany.  We asked him what his family was like, and he said, “My family is kind of a German/Greek mix, because we're living in both traditions.”  Alexis goes on to tell us that he was raised in both cultures but neither exclusively.

What do students in White City know about Germany?  Germany, located in Central Europe, is known for its rich history and cultural heritage. Its capital, Berlin, is a hub of art, politics, and technology.  Germany is the most populous country in the European Union and has a strong economy, being a leading exporter of machinery, vehicles, and chemicals. The country is also famous for its contributions to philosophy, music, and science, with figures like Immanuel Kant, Ludwig Van Beethoven, and Albert Einstein.
