During the week of March 3 through March 7, 2025, White City Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss Week. During Dr. Seuss Week, there were multiple Dr. Seuss related events, such as a field trip to a theater where the students could enjoy a play, as well as different days for creative and spirited outfits.

The themes of the days for Dr. Seuss Week are:

Monday: Sleep Book - Wear your pajamas

Tuesday: Go, Dog, Go! - Wear your red shirts

Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday - Wear clothes backwards, inside out, or mismatched!

Thursday: Cat in the Hat - Wear your favorite hat

Friday: Oh, The Places You'll Go! - Wear your favorite college jersey/shirt!

Our librarian, Mrs. Meagan Carson, tells us that she has only done Dr. Seuss Week for 2 years but, White City has been celebrating it for about 25 years now. Dr. Seuss Week is celebrated to encourage children to read. We asked Mrs. Carson what her favorite Dr. Seuss books are now and what they were when she was younger. She answered, “One of my favorites as a child was Fox In Socks. I would have to say my favorite as an adult would be Oh, The Places You'll Go!" She also told us that she believes children also enjoy Seuss books because they are easy and fun to read.
