newey

We recently were given the opportunity to talk with Mrs. Diana Newey about how her semester has been going. She told us that “The new semester is going well.” and that the weather has been clearing up, allowing her to take her class outside instead of being inside all day.

Mrs. Newey also tells us that track meets will take away from class all but two of her seventh graders.  Additionally, four of her sixth graders will be at the meets. She also says that the students in track have already begun complaining about their sore muscles, and how much running they’ve been doing.

When asking how Mrs. Newey’s second semester has differed from her first, she told us that they are ready for state assessments.  Each class practices on practice tests to see the different questions they will need to expect going into the official test. She also tells us that the second quarter is usually her favorite because the classes have gotten into routine by then and all students know what the teachers expect out of them.

The final thing we asked her was if she was ready for summer break, and if her students were ready. She replied “Yes, I am ready for summer break.” She also told us that her family has activities they participate in each summer, and they are ready for more time to work on the activities. Mrs. Newey’s students told her that they were ready for summer break, so that they could do sports such as baseball, and softball.
